The Money Show at ddbd

david dew bruner design is pleased to announce the next show in the gallery: Money. This exhibition and sale explores how the idea of money and currency has changed over centuries and cultures.

The exhibit mainly forcuses on Africa and its unique forms of currency... Stone bracelets from Mali, Kissi pennies (an inspiration for Giaometti), shovels, bronze bracelets, beads and Kuba clothes. There will pre-Civil War American currencies, tenant farmer store coins, stocks and bonds. A wide range of prices so everyone can afford a piece from this show.
 
The opening is March 26th from 6pm to 8pm, and will run through the end of April. The gallery, located at 610 Warren Street, is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 to 5; Mondays by chance or appointment. Click here for more items at david dew bruner design.

European Iron Flax Comb

Flaxcomb This early iron flaxcomb from Europe stands about 12" tall, on a custom base.

It was used for separating the fibers of the flax plant in the process of making linen.

Hazard opening June 4th at ddbd

david dew bruner design is pleased to announce the opening on Saturday, June 4th of work by master printmaker Steven Hazard. A blend of Escher and Bosch, Hazard’s prints are a cross between fantasy and the real,  the objective and the subjective.

The scale of Hazard’s works range from small (4 "x 6") to large (over 2 feet tall), with themes and concepts taken from world events. The majority of his prints are etchings, and many are available both in color and black and white. Hazard’s work can be found in many collections, and he has exhibited extensively.

The June 4th opening takes place at 610 Warren Street from 6–8 pm, with the exhibit running through the end of the month. Looking more like Western folk art, this 19th century Chinese chopstick holder will blend with any primitive/folk art collection- and it does not have to be used to hold just chopsticks. Made of wood and bamboo and has that old Chinese dark finish.  At David Dew Bruner. Priced at $495.
